This is your official announcement of the 5th Annual VB&G/Digest/RMH Eyeball
and Hang at the Buck'n Gator Bar and Grill.
For those of you who have been regulars, you know all this shit already:
Thursday night, August 10th 6PM-whenever.
Buck'n Gator on Sturgis Road in Rapid City.
From Sturgis: Head east on I-90. Take the Black Hawk exit. Go about five
miles until you suddenly break out of the trees and ride past the Buck'n
Gator on your right. Turn around and pull in. :)=)}
From Rapid City: Head west on Main. Stay on Main past the Guard camp and
through the intersection where you will suddenly find that you are on
Sturgis Road (Main cuts off to the left). Head out past the quarry and
you'll see the Buck'n Gator on your left. Try not to hit anyone who's
turning around in the middle of the freaking highway. :)=)}
It is suggested that you take the opportunity to ride past there sometime
before Thursday night. It's easy to find and there's plenty of parking.
There will be lots of assorted netscum there to meet 'n' greet...along with
cold tasty beverages, hot tasty beverages, and hot tasty food. Hamburgers
and kebabs are the menu for this year, provided by an outside vendor.
Come on down and say hi...tip a few and eat some food! It's a chance to put
a face with the folks you've been flaming all year.
For those of you who are in the area before and after Thursday, the Buck'n
Gator is a very biker-friendly place. If you can catch them with the grill
open you will get the best hamburgers and fries in western South Dakota.
Don't know if they still have it...but a burger basket and a beer used to
run $5 and a better lunch you could not find without a considerable amount
of effort.
Harland...the owner...has been willing to put on extra staff, hire a food
vendor to free up more staff, and generally play the gracious host for the
last five years. If you happen to make his acquaintance, thank him. If you
decide to patronize the place any other time, I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
I'm not sure what the schedule of events is there...but I know they've had
some pretty kickass bands down there on Wednesday. A couple of years ago was
Molly Hatchet, for instance.
Put it on your calendars!
Skiv :)=)}
Before the Buck N' Gator there was the 1995 get-together
organized by Joan, the
"Cyber-Biker" gathering
near Spearfish.
Also in 1995 the predecessor to the Buck N' Gator get together was
held at the Elk Creek Steakhouse.
